Lloyd Russell Moyle our MP has asked Michael Gove, to address our points:

Following our written request to Lloyd to take action, he has sent this letter and advised us below

Dear Resident Directors,

Thank you for your email. I have discussed your concerns with Lloyd and he ultimately believes that the Government are still dragging their heels to provide better protections for leaseholders.

He has sent the following letter

I am writing on behalf of constituents, who are resident directors of the Grand Ocean Estate on Longridge Avenue, Saltdean, East Sussex, BN2 8BU. They have brought to my attention that Laing O’Rouke, the developer of the shared ownership properties on the estate, have not been asked to sign the Developer Remediation Contract and have therefore not committed to remediate the unsafe buildings on the property.

I am particularly concerned that Laing O’Rouke will not be committing to the contract because they are the developers behind the new hospital facilities in my constituency at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. Please can you explain the criteria used for deciding which developers were invited to sign the Developer Remediation Contract and why certain developers such as Laing O’Rouke were excluded?

Additionally, how do you propose to hold Laing O’Rouke to account? Will they still be to commence new developments in England or receive building control approval for work that is already under way without having to commit to remediate their unsafe buildings at the Grand Ocean Estate and beyond?

I will be in touch as soon as we receive a response.

Best wishes,

Ben Kent
